Gaming Smartphones are not so many around but the category is gradually gaining some momentum especially among gaming enthusiasts. Xiaomi first launched the Black Shark Gaming phone in the fourth Quarter of last year and just recently a new model dubbed Black Shark Helo joined the fray.
Xiaomi backed Gaming Smartphone brand Black Shark has announced that its first Smartphone will be coming to the European market on Nov16. The world’s first liquid cooled Smartphone the Xiaomi Black Shark would thus officially be available for the first time globally. Key highlights of the Smartphone include a green and black colour design, DCI-P3 wide colour Gamut support and Quick charge 3.0 support. It supports a similar design and is targeted towards premium mobile focused gamers.
To Celebrate the Global availability of the Black Shark Smartphone, the company has certain pre-order discounts lined up as part of the Black Shark Lootbox challenge. The Balck Shark was launched in China in April this year at a price of US $430 for the base 6GB RAM and 64GB storage model. The 8GB RAM and 128GB inbuilt storage variant are priced at the US $500. The Phone is currently available in Polar Night and Sky Grey colour options however pricing and colour schemes for the European market are currently not known.
The Dual Sim (Nano) Xiaomi Black Shark runs Android Orea and sports a 5.99” full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) IPS LCD panel with an 18: 9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 403PPi. The handset is powered by Octa core Qualcomm SnapDragon 845 SOC, paired with an Adreno 630 GPU, 6GB/ 8GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage. Storage is not expandable externally.
In terms of Optics, the Xiaomi Black Shark bears a Dual Rear Camera setup consisting of a 12Megapixel primary sensor and a 20 Megapixel secondary sensor. There is a non-removable 4000maH Battery under the hood. Connectivity options on the Black shark include 4G LTE, Dual band wifi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS and a USB Type-C port. The Black shark Phone also comes with a good heat dissipation mechanism that prevents overheating during heavy gaming.
Customizable backlit Logo on the back, though at the time of trying this unit the colours were limited to just eight options instead of the full 16.8 million range. There is also a short LED strip on both sides of the phone and these are supposed to react to gameplay but the prototype could only light them up upon toggling to Gaming mode.
The most interesting part of this package is the Bluetooth Game controller. With the phone placed in the bundled protection case, one can slide the controller down the slit along the phone’s top side and this gives more precise thumb control via the joystick along with left shoulder triggers, while also giving more viewable screen space.
