Xiaomi Corporation has a knack for coming up with innovative gadgets that hit the market with a bam. Often, fans go crazy over Xiaomi products and receive them with open arms. Keeping up the tradition, the company has recently launched two laptops with groundbreaking technology and amazing features. Xiaomi’s Mi Notebook Air has been released in two models with slightly varying specifications. Both sporting the 8th Gen Intel i3 processor, the new Mi Notebook Air models vary in their price due to a difference in features. Let’s have a detailed look at the specifications and everything these new devices have in store for you –
Price and Availability
Both the models have been launched by Xiaomi with great enthusiasm, and so have been received by the customers. The awesome specifications offered by Xiaomi Notebook Air 13.3” and 16.5” models have been generously priced by the company at affordable rates. The 13.3-inch model has been priced at CNY 3,999, which roughly converts to $577. The other model, which is the 16.5-inch device, is slightly cheaper than the previous one and costs CNY 3,399, which is approximately $491.
The 13.3” model is up for sale on Xiaomi’s official website, while the 16.5” model has to be pre-ordered and will be available for sale starting from November 11 in China. The date holds special value in the Chinese as it is Singles Day, and the public is anticipating their release. While the sale is available in China, there hasn’t been any update on the availability of both the Mi Notebook Air laptops in other countries.
While one model has a 15.6-inch display, the other Mi Notebook Air has a screen size of 13.3 inches. The screens have been manufactured using Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and protected by an anti-glare coating. Both the displays bear a full HD resolution (1080p) and 170-degree viewing angle, which are meant to enhance the gaming experience of the user. The full-size backlit keyboard features a 1.3mm keystroke and 3 nits brightness that facilitates easy typing.
It also has a separate numeric keypad on the right. The glass touchpad is specially designed for a precise cursor control and multi-touch gesture aid. Also supporting a fingerprint recognition feature, Xiaomi has upgraded the accessibility of the gadget by reducing its unlocking time. Apart from having a digital array microphone, the laptop also has AKG-tuned speakers that provide a Dolby surround sound.
Xiaomi has designed the body of these laptops without any logo, in order to achieve an aesthetic look. Such an idea adds to the physical appeal of the device by making it appear more classy and sophisticated. So far, the company has succeeded in its objective.
Specifications of the 13.3” Model
The most attractive quality of these laptops is their size and weight. Xiaomi 13.3” model is about 0.6 inches thick, measuring 309.6 x 210.9 x 14.8 mm, and weighs 1.3 kg. The device is extremely lightweight and is as per the convenience of the user.
Covered in a metal body, the gadget runs on an 8GB of DDR4 RAM and 12GB SATA SSD, which can be increased by an extendable external storage hard drive. The 8th Gen Intel Core i3-8130U with a dual-core four-thread processor and L3 4MB cache has been incorporated into Xiaomi’s latest model, along with pre-installed Windows 10 Home.
Camera and Connectivity
The laptop also comes with a 1-megapixel 720p front camera to assist video calling. Talking about connectivity, Mi Notebook Air includes Intel’s 2 x 2 dual-antenna Bluetooth 4.1, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, a USB Type-C port that supports charging, two USB 3.0 ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, microSD card slot, and an HDMI port.
Cooling System and Battery
Another highlight of this device is the dual fan cooling system and a 2+2 heat pipe that helps to regulate the internal temperature of the laptop and prevents it from overheating. Xiaomi has introduced this feature keeping in mind the trouble a user has to go through when a laptop overheats while working.
To assist the feature of fast charging, the device is equipped with a 40W battery that claims to charge 50 percent of the battery in half an hour. Xiaomi also assures its audience about a longer battery life which lasts up to 9.5 hours after a single charge. This quality allows the user an uninterrupted seamless experience, without having to worry about charging the laptop.
Specifications of the 16.5” Model
This version of the Mi Notebook Air almost supports the same features as the 13.3” model, except for a few differences. The screen resolution is full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) and comes with a 4GB RAM with 128GB SSD. This device is also pre-installed with Windows 10 Home Edition and runs on 8th Gen Intel Core i3 processor.
Dual Fan Cooling Technology
Similar to its counterpart, this device also has the dual fan cooling technology and 2+2 pipe layout that keep the system cool. The ergonomic keypad and stereo 3W speakers also add to the specifications of this model. Since the model is the same with slight variation in its functioning, the sleek design is the same with a firm metal body which lacks the impression of a logo.
The laptop has multiple connectivity ports fitted into a thickness of 0.8 inches. Other than dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.1, and a fingerprint sensor, the device has one 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB 2.0 port, two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and a 3-in-1 card reader.
